Jacaranda blossoms~Today's Flowers~051212

I went to the park yesterday to take photos of the ducks, but instead I was fascinated by the jacaranda blossoms.  The trees at the park are full of them!  Aren't they gorgeous?  I love their deep, rich purple color.  Today's Flowers for May 12, 2012.

Daffodils~San Juan Capistrano~022612~Today's Flowers

These pretty daffodils were blooming today across from the AMTRAK station in San Juan Capistrano as I strolled down the historic old town.  Hubby and I took a week off away from the desert to spend it in Orange County.  Hubby wandered off one direction and I wandered off another.  I was pleased to see some color.  The fog rolled in about 4:00 p.m. and the sun disappeared.  Today's Flowers for February 26, 2012.

Garden update~021912

After this week's rains, my wildflowers have just sprouted and thrived.  I went out this morning to take a look at them and this is what I saw.  Unfortunately, my two male cats like to sleep in the middle of the wildflowers and they've created some nice beds, but have trampled the flowers!

Yellow flower~Mellow Yellow Monday~021312

These pretty yellow flowers are blooming right now all over the desert.  I don't know their name, so I'm going to have to research it.  We are having an early spring here, unlike last year, which was very cold and dreary and rainy.  Mellow Yellow Monday for February 13, 2012.  To visit MYM, please go to:   http://mellowyellowmonday.blogspot.com/

Hummingbird and flowers

I was so busy photographing these pretty pansies the other day that I barely noticed a hummingbird who was also enjoying them!  I finally saw movement out of the corner of my eye and discovered him flying around.  The desert has some beautiful flower beds right now and I am hoping to get out and see more of them this weekend, when it is going to be nearly 80 degrees down here!  :-)

Yellow flower

I found these pretty yellow flowers outside of LA Wines yesterday while hubby was inside shopping.  I don't know what they are...any ideas?

Garden update...

Sorry I've been AWOL for a while.  Our beloved German Shepherd died during winter break and I was just devastated.  He had been diagnosed with canine lupus and basically the disease just shut down his system.  He stopped eating and got very weak and while we were up in northern California for a family reunion, he just gave up.  I felt so guilty leaving him alone at home, but we only have this family gathering with my husband's family once a year, during Christmas, and our son stayed behind (he started a new job) and was feeding the dogs every day and keeping an eye on Rommel. We arrived home in time to see him live for 5 minutes before he died.  I felt so badly that I haven't done anything around the house or yard until yesterday.  My garden is nearly non-existent.  It's been so hot that my sweet peas are kaput.  I didn't plant anything else except for some California poppy seeds and a few sunflower seeds that I put out back along the dog fence.  While it's been too hot for the sweet peas, they are sprouting.  The wildflowers out front are developing nicely and I see lupines, poppies, and some other flowers among the greenery.  I noticed a few early wildflowers along Highway 74, which goes from Palm Desert up into our local mountains.  It's very early for them and last year they didn't bloom until March!
